Amy Bury was born along the Minnesota/Wisconsin border. Never knowing whether she was a Wisconsinite or Minnesotan, she never knew a day without inner conflict. Does she like cheese curds or hotdishes? Is she a Brewers fan or a Twins fan? She decided that to find the answers to these important questions she would make a post-collegiate move to Los Angeles — a city she has decided to love. It turns out she can’t have either cheese curds (dairy) or hotdishes (gluten and dairy), and she is meh about baseball. But the move to Los Angeles helped her find improv, which allowed her to stop asking so many questions. Instead she just had to say yes and make up the answers. It was perfect. After training in the art of not asking questions at Westside Comedy Theater (levels 1-6), UCB (101-401), and Groundlings (Beg-Advanced), she learned that you do need to ask questions, just not to your scene partner or aloud. Finally it hit her that the answers are inside each of us, and, paradoxically, none of us have the answers. You can see this conflict in all of her sketch and improv “work”, which takes place on the Westside Comedy Theater stage the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 8pm, and the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 10pm.
