In Sketch 201, students build off the comedy writing fundamentals they learned in Sketch 101, broadening their understanding of sketch and character archetypes, bolstering their writing skills as well as being introduced to collaborative content creation. Students will learn and practice the art of pitching an original idea, riffing in a writer’s room setting, offering punch-up ideas, co-writing, and re-writing.
Deliverables after Sketch 201
- Quick Premise Heighten Sketch
- Archetypal Sketch (Fish Out of Water, Clash of Context, Impossible Task, Center/Eccentrics)
- Satire Sketch or Desk piece (Last Week Tonight, Colbert, Daily Show)
- Social Media Piece
- Three blackouts (short one joke sketch)
Class sizes are limited. Enrollment is dependent upon availability. For enrolled students a confirmation welcome email will be sent 48 before the start of the first class. There are no refunds or transfers on tuition.
