Gene’s appetite for improv was kindled at South Coast Repertory Theatre in Costa Mesa. He then discovered Spectacles Improv Engine in Fullerton run by Josh Nicols. After immersing himself in their training program, he auditioned/was asked to be a member of numerous teams: “#Likeable”, “IFL”, “Skeleton Key” and “Ryan Reynolds Live”. Additional improv training included a three-week intensive at IO West (RIP) and an extra Level 3 Class with Craig Cackowski, before moving over to Westside Comedy. (A big thanks to Westside for accepting students from the IO program.) After completing Westside’s 701 Class, he was overjoyed to learn he had been selected to perform on one of Westside’s Alley Teams, “Take Five”, twice a month on Sundays.
