Improv Resident Team Audition Night!

Come be a part of the decision making process for our next round of Resident Teams! In the event of a tie, the decision will come down to an AUDIENCE VOTE!

LINEUP:

Very Tall Children

We are a 5 member improv team who performs long form improv. We open our shows with a monologue style opening where we take a suggestion from the audience and then one of us tells a quick story based on that suggestion. We then do a montage of scenes using details pulled from that story.  

Paul, Colin and I (Mitch) met while taking improv classes and performing in student shows together at The Groundlings. I later met Kyle and Sam through doing stand up and thought they were smart and funny performers. I was excited to hear they also had improv backgrounds. Once the pandemic let up and there were more performance opportunities for improv teams around LA, we formed our team, Very Tall Children, and began doing independent shows at venues like The Good Nite and State Social House. 

We each have a long history of performing long form improv in LA as well as other cities (Paul, Colin and I each individually started performing comedy in Texas, while Kyle started in Boston and Sam in Chicago). This shared history makes it a joy to perform together which is why we would love an opportunity to audition for a residency spot with M.i.’s Westside Comedy Theater.

A herd of Austin-to-LA transplant comedians kept bumping into one another while on the hunt for decent brisket, searching for a good swimmin’ hole, or asking bartenders if they served Happy Meals (iykyk). Feeling home sick, they decided to work through the pain the only way they knew how. Improv comedy! 

Individually they’ve played all over Austin and LA for many years, now they’ve banded together to form Cowgirl, a comedy team bringing the Texas heat. Performing a southern-fried version of The Armando (The Carlos), they invite a guest or an audience member to share a story and mine the juicy details to spin a yarn full of big characters, wild ideas, and possibly an anthropomorphized hard drinkin’ tumbleweed named Erma who knows what you did behind the barn, Josh!

Simply Drenched

We are Simply Drenched. We are a group of actors, writers, and various creative types who love meeting together and performing. We aim to create a very fun, imaginative, and engaging experience. We love improv and the rules that come with it, but we also have a lot of fun breaking those rules and letting things fly off the handle a tad. We have a wide range of personalities, are great friends and enjoy spending time and creating together in our free time. Our style of improv is long form scenes, short form improv and a variety of games. We also do some musical improv segments. We like to mix it up each time.
